I am a Canadian female, aged 38, who has been living in Indonesia for about 7 years now. My varied experiences here have taught me a great deal about myself personally, as well as my skills and capabilities.
I possess approximately 12 years editing experience in Canada, Taiwan and Indonesia in a variety of positions and settings, as well as 20 years management, administrative and supervisory experience in various environments and locations. In addition, I have acquired 16 years experience with computers, peripherals, the internet and a wide variety of software including MS Office, Photoshop and other Adobe programs, HTML editing programs, etc. My advanced computer and internet skills also include CSS and XHTML capabilities, as well as some basic knowledge of SQL databases, PHP and Wordpress based sites.
Because I have traveled and lived overseas for an extended period of time - Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong - I have gained a great deal of knowledge regarding different cultures, customs, human rights issues, expatriate and migrant workers issues and religions. This has given me the opportunity to meet, deal and live with people from every background imaginable - from journalists, elected government officials, presidents, directors and owners of International Companies and police and military personnel to blue collar workers, residents of traditional villages and the homeless. I have been extremely fortunate to have had all of these opportunities.
Due to my exposure to these diverse environments and cultures, I believe that I have a very broad-minded perspective on people of all nationalities, which would make me an ideal copy writer or content writer for many types of corporate literature, print publications and websites. Coupled with my strong background in education and training, I feel that corporate or community based training positions with International NGOs or International Companies based in Indonesia would also suit my combined skills very well. I have no aversion to traveling in or outside of Indonesia in relation to any job. For the time being, I am also prepared to take on freelance projects of almost any type that would require me to work remotely.
As you will see from my resume, I have worked in several different fields and have been able to utilize my talents in a variety of ways. I am adaptable to almost any working situation and have spent a great deal of time 'self-educating'. If I don't know it, I learn it - fast. Living in Indonesia, I have found myself in many high-stress, unfamiliar circumstances where I have had to simply pick up the ball and start moving with very little or no instruction. In addition, I work hard - I'm usually the last one out of the office - and I work very well on projects that require a great deal of focus and persistence. I dislike leaving a project unfinished or a problem unresolved.
My past experience and personal character would make me very well suited to any position that would enable me to utilize and further develop my skills in a professional setting. I currently live in Jakarta and have been with the same company since early 2004. I can be contacted by phone, cell phone, email or
